IAD
The IAD jump. The skydiving adventure just beginning
The I.A.D. system (Instructor Assisted Deployment) is a jump that you execute at a altitude of 3500 feet, where your parachute opens immediately. Actually it is the instructor that will open your parachute from the plane as soon as you leave it. The I.A.D. jump is for people that are more daring and independent. That would enjoy controlling the parachute by themselves.
Contrary to the tandem jump, you would have to take a 3 to 4 hour course before that actual jump. The advantage of this jump is mainly if you decide to keep going in this sport. Your basic training course would have already be done and paid for. Furthermore, after your first I.A.D. jump, you can do additional jumps for only 65$ each including equipment rental. On the down side, you don’t get to experience freefall, or very little, since the parachute takes only 3 to 5 seconds to open. And also, since we depend on the weather, your jump can be postponed if wind conditions are not favorable for novices.
