PFF formation for the new skydivers
Progressive Free Fall
What is it ?
PFF it's a learning method designed to form new skydivers, designed to make you discover the exciting world of skydiving on your own. You've probably also heard about something like CLIP, PAC or AFF. These are just different names for the same training method. At the end of this training method you will ready to do a safe skydive, on your own without any instructor supervision.
Become a skydiver. The requirements for becoming a skydiver.
You'll need to have at lest a tandem skydive or a IAD skydive done before you can start the training. We have created a new and custom program that includes 20 minutes of wind-tunnel. These 20 minutes are included in the price you pay for the PFF and it really helps the progression.
You'll have to take a 3-4 hours theoretical class before your first jump from the PFF training. We usually bundle the theoretical class with the wind-tunnel to render your experience more enjoyable. The class takes place at Saint-Jérôme, Trois-Rivières or the Laval (headquarter of SkyVenture Montreal)
Our PFF program
As stated before we have a custom tailored program that was amended in 2009. This new program was created in order to meet growing demands and to take advantages of the new tools we got in modern skydiving.
Unlike the other schools we've kept in the IAD skydive skydive before the first free fall. This means that unless you've started skydiving with a tandem skydive your first full altitude free fall will be the second jump. The IAD skydive will allow you to fully dedicate one jump to parachute piloting.
Keep in mind that before your first jump of the training (IAD) you'll actually have the entire theoretical formation and 20 minutes of wind-tunnel under your belt.
The PFF bundle includes
-
20 minutes of wind-tunnel
-
1 skydive with 2 instructors
-
4 skydives with 1 instructor
-
3 solo skydives
-
1 skydive that is filmed and that will be your exam needed for the Solo License
with a grand total of 10 jumps
On the side include in the price of the bundle:
-
A theoretic class that takes around 3-4 hours.
-
Parachutist Information Manuals (PIM).
-
Log Book (used to log your jumps).
-
Skydiving goggles.
-
Two DVD of your solo exam skydive.
-
CD with high resolution photos of your solo exam skydive.
All the skydives are made from an altitude of 12 000 feet except the IAD skydive from 3500 feet and a jump preparatory for an emergency exit from the aircraf from 4000 feet.
This program will prepare you to maintain a stable free fall position (box position or mantis), to be aware of your altitude by using the visual and auditive altimeter, to open your parachute and control it to the ground. You will also practice different exit types and different ways of piloting your parachute.
For the first full altitude skydive, your instructors will keep you tight and close to them as long as your position is not stable. They are just few cm away of you ready to help if something is not as it should be, including opening of your parachute at the right altitude if needed.
After, in the next 4 skydives, your instructor will be there to teach you to fly your body and supervise the correct position using hand signals (that you've learn before). At the end of these 4 skydives with one instructor, you will be able to do all sort of acrobatics from the rolls and turns and you're finally ready for the your solo skydives.
Actually, after those 5 levels you can begin to enjoy the sky and the surroundings of Saint Jérôme or Trois Rivières. Following the 3 solo jumps, a cameraman (or a beautiful camerawomen) will jump with you and film your exam for the solo license. In this exam you'll have to perform a 360 turn to the right, a 360 turn to the left and open your parachute at the right altitude (of 5000 feet). Generally half of the time of your exam will have you as a super-star having fun in the sky and only half is actually used to the necessary areal maneuver.
The instructors that you can jump with during your PFF have the PFF instructors qualification. Check our team to see who they are.
